Vikram Divecha's intervention Sweeping (2016) is part of the group exhibition Through the Mesh: Media, Borders, and Firewalls investigating the cultural space of social media. The artwork is an attempt to draw attention to what we habitually overlook—waste and the labour that is involved in sanitation— positioned here as an art practice. In place of conventional notions of art, the sweepers put trash in its place and claim their labour as a creation of beauty.
