Mohammed Kazem: RAW DATA (1999-2013) is a site commissioned project of leading Emirati artist Mohammed Kazem at Maraya Art Centre, Sharjah. Kazem is renowned for producing highly conceptual works that map objects, architecture, nature and geographies through receiving their GPS coordinates and creating a new syntax in contemporary art that combines, art and navigational principles. For his solo project at Maraya Kazem will present 14 year's worth of numerical coordinates from the vast array of GPS readings he has collected throughout his professional artistic career. These readings will be reworked and applied within an immersive atmospheric installation where light and mirrors will provide audiences with illumination and reflectivity on the practice of this ideas driven artist as he enters a pivotal moment in his career.
