Either He's Dead Or My Watch Has Stopped. Groucho Marx (While Getting the Patient's Pulse): Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt

Schirn Kunsthalle Frankfurt 3 September - 13 December 2020

The expansive installations by Ramin Haerizadeh, Rokni Haerizadeh and Hesam Rahmanian take you into a world of their own. The Iranian artists create surprising encounters that draw attention to urgent political and social conflicts of the present and question power mechanisms as well as normative gender roles or the art world. The SCHIRN presents the trio's first solo exhibition in Germany. Following their principle of work in progress, Haerizadeh, Haerizadeh and Rahmanian bring together new and existing works into an immersive installation. The starting point and heart of the exhibition is a monumental floor painting created especially for the SCHIRN - a dense network of stories and references. It is complemented by other works, including sculptures, collages and video works. The base and center of the trio's artistic work is their home in Dubai. Her works of art and exhibitions are created here in the process of living and working together - often in exchange with friends or other artists. The SCHIRN exhibition also includes two textile sculptures by the Egyptian artist Hoda Tawakol. According to their definition of the collective, the artists work in their own style both together and independently of one another. Time and again, her work revolves around the crises in the Middle East, exile and migration. With melancholy poetry and biting humor, Hearizadeh, Haerizadeh and Rahmanian transform gloomy scenes into caricature-like grotesques that reflect the abstruse of the globalized world.
