We are pleased to announce our participation in Art Abu Dhabi 2019 with a solo presentation by French-Algerian artist Abdelkader Benchamma in the section, Focus: Drawing, Tracing, Mapping, curated by Omar Kholeif.
Inspired by literature, philosophy, astrophysics and esoteric reflections, Benchamma’s works delves into supernatural apparitions, mythologies, and cosmic observations conjuring otherworldly landscapes and subconscious visions.
In a series of large ink drawings the artist continues his Book of Miracles based on images found on the internet, depicting real or fake photo-shopped miracles as mysterious writings seen to appear in the trees and shrubbery while COSMA-Eyes, 2019 (above), is inspired by marbles covering the interior of a Mosque in Damas which are said to produce hallucinations or enhance spiritual experiences.
