Hoda Tawakol's work are presented in a group show at Museum for Art in Wood in Philadelphia as part of The Mashrabiya Project: Seeing Through Space.
Mashrabiya are a ancient architectural lattice frames, used on uppler floors. This exhibition reinterprets this traditional Islamic elemnt to convey concepts of gender, identity and space. It features works of six women artists from the Islamic world and their interpretations of these traditional wooden screens.
